预付费电度表又叫做定量电能表、ic卡电度表，除了具有普通电能表的计量功能外，特别的是用户先买电，买电后才能用电，若用完电后用户不继续买电，则自动切断电源停止供电。用于计量额定频率为50Hz 的交流单相有功电能，配套预付费售电软件实现先付费后用电的管理功能。采用先进的微电子技术进行数据采集、处理及保存，采用射频卡传递数据。其性能指标符合GB/T17215-2002 和GB/T18460.3-2001 标准。预付费电度表具有体积小、安全性高、可靠性高、防窃电等特点。
预付费电表工作原理：
电能表由两个主要功能组成：一是电能计量部分，采用专用的集成电能计量芯片将电压和电流的采样信号进行计算，产生代表电能的计量脉冲直接用于电能误差校验，并同时给MCU 的功能处理部分进行电能计数;二是微处理器MCU 控制部分，根据计量部分的电能脉冲进行电能计算，并通过射频卡接口进行数据交换，同时采用宽温度范围的LCD进行显示，并按设定参数控制磁保持的继电器对用户用电进行控制。
预付费电表功能特点：
1.采用大规模集成电路及SMT加工工艺，保证产品的高可靠性
2.电能表功耗低，远远小于国家标准要求
电压线路：≤0.7W和4VA(国标：≤2W和10VA)
电流线路：≤0.3VA (国标：≤4.0VA)
3.防窃电功能强, 我公司生产的单相电子式电能表采用先进的防窃电技术。不仅具有防止电表倾斜、外加磁场、短接、反向用电等普通窃电方式，并具有防一火一地的防窃电功能.
4.在结构方面，设计有防窃电端盖，防止短接窃电
5.电度表量程宽，保证在6倍以上过载倍数
6.电度表具有防潜动逻辑电路，施加125%的电压，电度表无测试脉冲输出
7.电度表在0.4%Ib时，电度表能起动并记录
8.预付费电表工作电压范围宽:在长期误加380VAC时，电度表仍能正常工作
